My grandmother has recently been diagnosed with stomach cancer. I became a Certified Nursing Assistant to help take care of her. I was used to their everyday presence and hospitality. And then on Christmas Day of he had to be rushed to the hospital. While he was here, I would go into his room, read him a newspaper, start conversations with him, and listen to his stories of when he was younger. They have taken care of me when I was ill, they would let me sleep in their bed when I was scared at night, and they would help me with my homework everyday after I got home from elementary school. I will continue to keep my promise, and help her in any way possible. Every one of those days that I did not speak to him could have been a day filled with his stories and input on life. I promised myself that I would grant her every single one of her wishes. I have had many conversations with my grandmother; we have gotten to know each other very well. The doctors said he had stomach cancer, in the advance stage, and he would not be able to live for long. I became a Certified Nursing Assistant to help take care of her. We all need to start being thankful and grateful for what we have, because these things will not last forever. It is surprising at how little I knew about her until now. My grandfather came back home; to pass away peacefully with his family. I do not believe that this feeling of regret will ever go away. Both my grandfather and my grandmother have taught me many things about life. As I got into my teenage years, his importance lessened to me, without even realizing it.
